Online collaborative environments are environments with characterstics of their own. In this project we analyzed a variety of components that make an environment successful/transactional. It is an online environmental analysis project, however you could say this was also a bit of digital anthropology.

New School Participatory Research Project (C) 

 

Before Silicon Valley it used to be called "Valley of The Hearts Delight." It used to be all orchards. It was rural. IBM came into town and development took off.  After living in multiple cities like Los Angeles, Tehran, and New York, I wanted to understand why San Jose was the way it was. I wanted to find out how people formed emotional ties to Santa Clara and what it has been like to live here over the years. What is the sense of place in Santa Clara Valley?

San Jose Greater Washington Collaborative Neighborhood Planning Project

California Planning Awards

This “Voices of the Community” report highlights the results of a listening tour undertaken by a team of 7 graduate students in San José State University’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning in the Spring of 2014.  The students hosted four community meetings and tabled at a community-wide Sustainability Fair, where they documented the primary concerns and aspirations of Greater Washington neighborhood residents regarding the community they call home.  

 

It is our hope that this document can serve as a comprehensive reference for current and future residents to lobby for the changes they seek. 

Strategic Re-Conceptualization of Starbucks Digital Network (C)

1s Place @ Distruptive Business Plan Competitions - Not Published -

Currently Starbucks has given Google the lead to organize the content strategy of the network. Though better than the earlier version, SBUX has the opportunity to step into content in a whole new way by just realizing one concept: Glocalization of Content.

 

Influenced by Convergence Culture and Places of Learning, I devised a 37 page creative strategy, compelte with data and suggestions.

 

Elderly Engagement Project

Present Engagement w/ the Past

Those in the laters years of their life course can start talking about a photograph of their first home or the photo of the special trip they took with their parents and escape to another moment completely away from this. These conversations lead to various coincidental tangents.

 

Motivation behind this project was to showcase the psychology of archiving while engaging the elderly. Engagement with the elderly usually serves great ethical lessons. As the project grows, the aim of this project is to inspire others, specially children, to seek out those stories.

Beyond The Page is a collaborative interdepartmental project that tackles this particular academic problem head-on by bringing together bright and creative students of different academic or professional pursuits who are interested in broadening the understanding of a researched subject.

The project’s principle goal is to encourage collaborating students to take a research paper, transform it into new mediums and take it into a place the author never truly considered: the public sphere
.

Media Studies Website Revamp

A Collaborative Production 

Media Studies website needed a touch up, so 6 of us got together to research what was missing, what people thought were missing and how we could integrate new features. 

 

I was mostly involved in the competitive analysis and research aspect. The end project looks very nice but it's lengthy 44 pages of findings and recommendations.
